Replacing X-cart logo with my logo?

Hi there

I've looked in the manual and haven't found the answer...
How do I replace the X-cart logo in the top left corner with my own logo? I have found the head.tpl page and I have created a logo file the same size as xcart.gif.
I guess at this point I just want to know how to upload my logo .gif to the database...
Is this how I should be doing it... or am I way off track?

just use the edit templates screen in the admin area

So I uploaded the .gif file using the window you suggested... however I just have a broken link... same as before...

What have I done wrong now?

Make sure you put it in the right directory.....skin1/images.....not images

How about a little help on WHICH template file it's in? I've gone through all the ones that seem logical to me but I'm not finding where it references xlogo.gif so I can change it to my own image.

Windows search function is no use at all. I search on "xlogo.gif" and it always returns "no matches found".

you'll want to look at these files:

skin1/head.tpl <-xlogo.gif is here
skin1/customer/home.tpl
skin1/customer/home_main.tpl
skin1/bottom.tpl

You can always turn on webmaster mode to see what tpl files are loaded for each page...

I am trying to change out the X-cart logo and I cant find any threads that explain step by step. I need help is anyone willing to email with me on this. My HTML sucks so I think I need some good advice.

I'll try and help you in the forum so everyone benefits from the walk through.

You have your image that you want to use as a logo.

The filename is yourfilename.jpg or yourfilename.gif

Upload this file into the xcart/skin1/images directory by FTP.

Go into your xcart admin (login as master or whatever) and click in the right hand side menu on Edit Templates.

In the list of folders and templates, locate head.tpl.

Look for this line (approx 4th one down)

Code:

<TD>[img]{$ImagesDir}/xlogo.gif[/img]</TD>

Change xlogo.gif to the name of the logo file you uploaded. Change the pixel width and height attributes to match your file.

Save and go look at your front end. BINGO!
