has anyone attempted to have the product information (detailed description mostly) popup in a new window?

You mean you want to replace the entire product detail page with a pop up? Or just the detailed description on the product detail page?

just the description text in a popup.

check out the way i'm trying to make the page look

When the person clicks "design info" a pop-up box with the Artist Statement & other text should popup from one of the 2 description boxes in the DB - i assume this is possible, just take the description display code and insert it into a new tpl file & do a popup link? right track?
