I'm trying to make my own separate sections to show dynamic category lists in - for example currently it is a single list like this:

Categories
Title 1
Title 2
Title 3
Title 4

And I'd like to do something like this:

Category 1
Title 1
Title 2

Category 2
Title 3
Title 4

I don't want them to show as categories with sub categories - the titles in bold above are the headings for the menu, with the categories and subcategories beneath them. I did something similar to this using an older version of X-cart in which I edited the fancycat templates, but it's all very different now and I'm not sure how to go about it.

Try our free mod. It should do what you're wanting.

Thanks for the tip, I have tried the mod but it doesn't seem to do what I'm after.

With that mod, the headings show up like this ('new heading'):

You can do that with some customizing to X-cart's category template. You'd need to change where the loop is that goes across the categories and have it span the whole template instead so that you get a new menu box for each header. But all the basics and changes to the database and php would be there to do this. You'd need to know a bit about smarty to do it.

Yeah, that's me lol that's what I used for an older version - it doesn't work with the latest version of X-Cart
