Default Editing Template Question

When editing a template, is it better to comment out the line of code or just totally remove the line of code? Could you also explain why either one is better.

I prefer to simply comment out so I have a bit of history of what was there. That would be for mods and functional changes more than anything. As far as design, we always have the backup to reference later if needed.

Comment it out. As Jonathon said keep it as reference. The commented out code doesn't affect templates or smarty engine or load times as it is simply ignored

I think it probably slows it down very very little, as it is just text.
