Default Different quantities for different items?

I tried searching the forum for an answer to this but had no luck.

I am setting up my store and plan to sell services and products. I'd like to restrict or remove the quantity dropdown for the services, but keep it for the products. Since the services are really just something people would order once. Is this possible? I put the services in its own category, so perhaps theres an IF statement? (Which would restrict customers from ordering more than 1 of each service in that category)?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I am not sure if you can do both a drop down and a quantity entry box. If you are selling a service, say, Gift Wrapping, could you not use a URL link and add the service directly into the cart, by passing the actual item listing?

Just a thought.

Keep your services and products in different categories. Then you can use an if statement to show or not quantity box based on current category. Keep in mind if you don't show quantity box for the form you have to assign quantity value of 1 as a hidden field.

Hi There,

I have the same problem I sell products and services. I've already have the products in a separate category from the services. However, I do not how to write the If statement to assign the category. The category # on the php is 249.

Could you please let me know how the statement has to be written? and which is the lines I have to edit on the buy_now.tpl?

Please Advise,
Thanks
