![]() From what I have been reading, this should come standard in your regular installation, not as a $49 addon. X-Cart gives the buyer a bunch of skin files that take a whole bunch of added time to modify your file permissions if your hosting company doesnt like the default settings. So now you install a skin not knowing you cant change it, after spending extra time and effort changing file permissions, just to get the product to install. Not counting any modifications you have made to your installation that you will be losing by having to reinstall the product. Then you have all these extra files just taking up dick space since you cant change between skins. Seems like to me if I am going to install all these extra skins, I should be able to switch between them anytime I like. So far this is the only thing I have found I dont really like about this product. I would have to say one this one issue, if I was asked to give an opinion to any prospective buyers, I would tell them to look around more for a product that allows skin changing before spending money on it.

![]() I just installed this yesterday, and this is my first post. Just so you know where I am coming from- I work in IT support for a very different product, and to me, Unix are unfortunate guards from times past.
I changed the skin using the method described in the user manual. I used the manual X-Cart_422_manual.pdf. The bottom of page 315 begins to show you the procedure to change the skin. I guess the trickiest part to it is renaming the install_datestamp_.php file back to install.php. To do this I used filezilla which is a really great (and very free) FTP program. In summary, before you begin: 1- get an FTP program that will allow you to easily rename files on your host. 2- get your authorization code. I think a "mini reinstall" is somewhat intense. I would think it should be easier, but after reading the "do it by hand" instructions - I decided I really like the wizard. I don't know Unix. The Skin changed VERY easily once I just followed the exact directions. HTH -Opie |

![]() Peter,
That is a very broad question, and has nothing to do with this thread. Please state your question as specifically as possible, noting placement of flash. Also please search first. Then is you can't find the right answer post your own thread. thx, Ash
