![]() I checked my new site with different monitor settings and noticed that on the 800X600 setting you have to scroll right in order to see the entire site. The site is set for a width of 960 px. in the page container of the main.css. Is there any way to set this, short of the obvious of thinning the look of the site to 800 px., so it will completely pull up on this monitor setting?

![]() so you want to fit 960 pixels into an 800 pixel screen without reducing it?
Ever heard of trying to fit a quart into a pint pot?

![]() I can appreciate what seems like a dumb question. But, I have a site that uses an older version of X-Cart that is also approx. 960 pixels wide and it fits on this monitor setting without the scroll bar at the bottom appearing. I've tried mirroring some of the settings but things have changed so much from then to 4.2.2 that it is beyond me.

![]() Likely your issue is going to have to do with images being displayed on the site that are not allowing the fluid design to shrink down to the smaller size.
Do you happen to have Google Analytics on your site? If you do, check out what the common resolutions are that are going to your site, it is quite possible that the 800x600 resolution isn't even a factor for your visitors. After evaluation of our site just last month we found that the majority of our users are now using monitors at a 1200 resolution or higher. We had previously designed our sites to accomodate the 1024x768 market, but now with the new data in hand we found that less than 4% of our visitors are actually at the 800x600 level and more than 30% were at 1024x768, everyone else is at a larger screen size. MIght be something to evaluate.

![]() but don't design for 1200. many of us have very large screens, yet we keep our browser window to about 1100 just because it's a natural size for the current web.
forget about 800px. most likely search engines.

![]() True - don't design for the 1200 market specifically. I still keep my pages in the 980 ranges. The only ones that I let go fluid and larger are informational sites that I run, or administration backend things like for monitoring servers or other such information as it's displayed on the big monitors for staff to overview the entire network of servers.

![]() 800x600 is dead, with less than 2% of all internet users running at that resolution. 1024x768 is the new standard. So a width around 960 or above is perfect. Google for the 960 grid system or go to http://960.gs - 960 grids have been all the rage this past year.
Don't worry about 800x600 resolutions. Btw, I have a macbook pro, and I run @ 1440x900 Ashley :p.
