I want to change the "Contact Us" in the upper right of the main screen to act as an e-mail link instead of opening the contact page. I have a lot of customers who don't like to fill out forms and would rather it just open like clicking an e-mail link normally does.

I'm sure it's probably something simple, but I'm still new at this...

If you do that, you will get HAMMERED with SPAM. Contact forms are there for a reason

Sure, just open up that template and change the link to a mailto link. Standard html: <a href="mailto:spam-me-please@domain.com">contact us</a>

To protect against spam bots, you can obfuscate the email address like this...
