I've had a search around and am struggling to get to grips with this template business (new to Xcart). I'm trying to change xlogo.gif to xlogo.jpg but I can't do it in head.tpl or customer/head.tpl. It just comes back with File Operation is Failed and reverts the image to xlogo.gif

I'm guessing I'm changing it in the wrong place? Apologies if this is a stupid question, I am trying to learn as much as poss from searching but can't see an answer to this one.

Moving to the 4.2 forum. You may want to look in the bugs forum - 4.2.0 was full of them related to template editing. I'd suggest upgrading to 4.2.1 if you have not already, and please update your forum signature with your EXACT version as above. Thanks!

Thanks, I guess it must be a bug. I did download the update pack to 4.2.1 but I think it's a little beyond me. I was planning on waiting for 4.3 and getting it done by the pro's. At the mo, the site is live but there is very little in it and we are developing it over time. Obviously template bugs are not going to help with this so maybe I need to get the upgrade done now. I just didn't want to pay for it twice.

You don't have to pay twice, upgrades are always free.

But I would have to pay to get somebody to actually do the upgrade? I had a go but got stcuk on changing permissions. My FTP software (leech and smartftp) didn't like the command to bulk change permissions. Not being familiar with Xcart I decided not to go any further in case I messed it all up.

I'll maybe have a search of the forum for help upgrading.

Well you never want to upgrade a live site, you always upgrade a copy and then make the copy live once it is fully tested. Also, if you are not comfortable running upgrades, you really shouldn't be running the 4.2 version, as it will have a steady stream of them for a few versions - as it is still an early release. 4.1.12 is the version you want to use if you want a stable, bug-free release.
