This is an easy mod, yet I can't seem to get it working just right. I am trying to replace the Menu Box. Would I place the

<TR>
<TD height=40 width=180 valign=top>[img]../skin1/images/categoriesmenutop.gif[/img]</TD>
</TR>

file in:

Home.tpl over each {include} files or

each special file (i.e. catagories.tpl) replacing the {capture name=menu} or

in the menu.tpl - if I place the file in the menu.tpl then I couldnt change the image title since all menu area call to this file.

Your help would be much appreciated. Once I can figure how to replace the menu head box on one, changing them in the future will be a breeze. =)

make a copy of menu.tpl and call it menu2.tpl.


Edit menu2.tpl how you want it to look.

Now lets say you want to apply the menu2.tpl look to categories.

Go to your skin1/customer/caterogies.tpl

Look near the end of the file where it references menu.tpl and change it to menu2.tpl.

Best to seperate your front end menus from your back end ones using this method, x-cart is currently uses menu.tpl for both frontend and admin end.
