Hi,

Is there an add on or mod that will allow the use of xcart
as a catalog only?

It will work just like the store.
Instead of "add to cart", it will say "request price".

Visitor can add as many products and then submit.
Admin gets email with all the products that the visitor
needs pricing for.

Does this exist and/or can xcart be modified to work like that?

Well, such a mod isn't available so far as i know.
But if your customers still should "order" the products to get pricing why don't you just rename the buttons, the Shopping Cart header and the Checkout. Disable shipping and let X-Cart just use one hidden payment method. That would be the easiest way.

A second option:
there is a free enquire about product mod outside. But the customer would need to fill out a form for each product he's intrested in.

A third option:
Also, there is a free Wishlist Viewer Mod available, instead of adding products to cart, your customers could add products to the wishlist. And you could check wishlists over the admin.

The 1st option, What happens when I Disable shipping ?
And how does the hidden payment method work?

I did see the mod on product enquiry but as you mentioned,

Well if you disable shipping, no shipping charges will be applied to customers cart. and won't show up.

Strip out of the checkout.tpl (If you're using the standard checkout, not the fastlane mod) the code which let the payment methods appear and then deactive all payments methods in the admin menu. Just let one active something like wire transfer. I guess its ID=10 (needed for example.

and then after you stripped out the payment code, add this

<input type="hidden" name="paymentid" value="10">

Change 10 to the corresponding id number of your payment method.

I disabled shipping.

I only set Wire transfer as shipping method and unclicked all the others.

I must change some language label fields to reflect what i want it to show.
i.e. wire transfer, invoice, checkout, order, payment method, and others.

Thats it. No coding. NO modifying files. Nothing.
