Default Two Separate Featured Products Lists on Homepage

Is it possible to have two separate Featured Products lists on the homepage? My client likes one box to feature products from all of his inventory (the standard Featured Products on the homepage) and they'd also like a Featured Products list to show for other, very specific products (custom guitars made specifically for their store).

Currently, we're gettin' the job done with hard-coded, static, HTML, but as my client isn't savvy on HTML editing, the updates are not as simple as we'd like.

Here is our website:
You can see the two lists at the bottom of the center column.

I guess another way to phrase this is:
"Is there a way to display the Featured Items for two different categories on the homepage?"

Same concern here. There are a few other posts that touch on the subject but nothing too solid:

http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=21372
http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=8349
http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=24746

"Is this possible?" Can we use the include for the featured products twice? Or is there a third-party mod that can do this?

I actually did a mod like this by I making some significant changes to the bestsellers that loaded on the main page and made them look different on category pages. This gave a look of having two featured products.

Hi,

We use this mod:
http://www.firetanksoftware.com/fts/customer/Featured-Product-Manager-for-x-cart-pid-146.html

Very good, little bit of coding, but not too bad.

And it work!

Hope this helps

Tony

Thedae2k will you shed some light as to how you accomplished this?

Thanks Tony Pearce, we'll look into this if all else fails.

Under admin when you add a product, it gives you the option to feature it, but it doesn't tell you under which category to feature it.

I was wondering if it's possible to create a second instance for it, or a way to do it without a third party mod?

PM sent back Screeny and yes I do like the Firetank mod has always looked like a great product. I wish I would have seen it before I started doing it myself.
