how would you add a caption to each one.

For instance

Mens Items

xxxx
Womens items
xxxx
xxxx
xxxx

etc,... how can this be done?

Hi EN4U,

If I understand your question correctly... then you are perhaps not using the full functionality of categories and sub-categories built into the cart.
i.e. at the moment you have only "one" level of category (and no sub-categories) - essentially all your categories are top level / 1st level categories.

What you should be doing is making "Mens Items" and "Womens Items" the top categories and then "xxxx1" "xxxx2" "xxxx3" etc. the sub-categories under each of these main categories.

So make a category called "Mens Items" and then click on it to open it - then add another category (this will be a sub-category e.g. "xxxx1")
This will give you the "top" category as a caption if you use fly-out category modules (either paid one or one you can do yourself from finished modules in the forum).

e.g.
Mens Items
xxxx1
xxxx2
xxxx3
xxxx4

Womens Items
xxxx5
xxxx6
xxxx7
xxxx8

What if I just want the heading to say what the title of the section is and not allow them to click it? For example:

Toys For Women (no click option)
Vibrators (click option)
Dildos (click option)

etc, etc.

Is there a way to do that?

Good question

In the code it is adding the link <a href....> for each category and sub-category... basically you just need to have an IF category is top-level category (no a href link) ELSE if not then include the <a href link...
This could also be done with CSS I guess (using a different style tag if is top category).

If you are not sure how to do this (change the code) and have bought someones third party module - then ask them to help... as I think they could code this for you in a couple of minutes (and might even be nice enough to not charge more than a couple of dollars).

PS: I am not a programmer - just trying to help with a solution for you which is built into the existing cart or can be easily done (hence why not given you the code change for this).

I found a site that does this.....but I don't know how they do it. Notice on the left Nav bar they have the title of the section and right below it the sub categories are clickable. I'm fine with the clickable categories, but I want the title category to be non clickable like shown on this site. http://www.xtoysusa.com

Ah crumbs! Please put a warning when an adult link like that is concerned. I'm fearing my bosses are going to think I'm a right perve - which I am but I don't want them knowing it ;D

What about trying this post from Awasson (there's also one from Moondog somewhere) & remember to adapt include/categories.php (which makes subcategories available)
