Default Anyone Familiar with Zeus and .htaccess Files?

Have generated the HTML catelog for my site and included the following in my .htaccess file however the site still loads with the .php extension: -

DirectoryIndex catalog.index.html
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^content/(.*)$ pages.php [L]

My host sent the following when asked why it would not work: -

"You do not define your index files and mime types using a .htaccess file
as this is a Apache webserver method and NetRegistry uses Zeus."

Sent 3 emails since and still waiting for them to tell me how it should be done.
To be honost I don't think they khow.

Can someone please tell me how this (what should be a simple task) can be done.

I would recommend to buy SEO friendly URL mod which is better than HTML catalog and covers most of the issues

Re: DSEFU √ It will not work on the server (Zeus).

Re:CDSEO √ Have so far spent more that $200 on mods and installations and don▓t wish to fork out another couple hundred. Will be selling a small number of products and product key words are in domain name so hope this is sufficient.

This issue is annoying because there has to be a simple explanation.

Gave the person in support handling this a blast about 3 hours ago however, still waiting a reply.

Have just mailed the supervisor so hopefully will get an answer soon, hopefully.

Unfortunately my host does not have a forum as a number of theist clients are using Xcart and they would most likely know the answer.

Thanks your interest,

Gerard

You should have a control panel where you set the directory index and add zeus rewrite rules.

Yes Jon there is a modify index page. Current index pages are as follows: -

index.cgi
index.html
index.php
index.shtm

Not sure about zeus rewrite rules?

Now recall Balinor mentioning something earlier about index control panel but did not follow up on it.

My host finely gave me the following advice however; it does not do what is required.

⌠You'll need to create a 301 redirect. So basically what you'll need to
do is just create an index.html file in the root directory, In the
index.html file just add this script:

<html>
<head>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" content="0;
URL=http://pepperlibido-tshirts-and-tops.com.au/catalog/index.html">
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

Once you have completed adding in that script and uploaded the
index.html file in the root directory. Log back into the console in
'Click to modify your index pages', create index.html and remove all the
other index pages.■

If one implements the above then you cannot access the .php pages when and as required. Don▓t think she understands the idea of the concept of opening in .html and then linking to .php for certain pages. (Have since explained it fully) This mod promotes and sells Xcart but apparently know little of how it works.

After being originally advised that this could not be bone through the .htacctss file, guess what?

The very same support staffer came up with the following, which works.

He has only wasted 5 days out of my schedule not to mention the time that you guys have put into helping me. Thanks again.

The following is the contents of the .htaccess file : -

redirect /index.php
http://mynewsite.com.au/catalog/index.html
