to remove the authentication area from the right hand side and put it in the speed bar, then replace the area the authentication was in with products?

Also my company is wanting me to build something that is constantly trying to sell products, kinda like some of the sites i see with a layout of featured items, and so forth, i figure I could code these in html, and embed them but is there a better way?

I usually recommend getting rid of the third column all together, as it allows more room to display an extra column of products. You'll need this mod:

You can move the cart up into the header as well.
