Ok I think I almost have everything pretty much where I want it at the moment.

One more Q....what do I need to edit to remove the featured items table from home page?

I think I've looked at every template but they all started looking the same a long time ago

brute force way to remove featured products from your welcome page:

/skin1/customer/main/welcome.tpl

find:
{include file="customer/main/featured.tpl" f_products=$f_products}

comment it out

{* {include file="customer/main/featured.tpl" f_products=$f_products} *}

WEBMASTER MODE will always tell you where things live, then sometimes it's obvious what to comment out...

how does one remove the WELCOME message itself and KEEP the featured products! featured products is just as easy by not having any featured items selected in the catagories list!

if any info on how to remove the welcome message so it can allow featured products to raise up the screen would be appreciated......if i figure it out ill post it here, even using webmaster mode is proving dificult which tag to comment out.

Just sorted it out using the customer main welcome template! deleted ALL the code apart from {include file="customer/main/featured.tpl" f_products=$f_products} now screen has just the featured products without a wasted 3 inch thick welcome message area !!! page looks cleaner now! anyway thought id post a reply to myself incase this helps anyone else. REMEMBER to backup your site before making mods.....
