Templates will not update.

Scenario:

Customizing x-cart in a subfolder and then decided to setup a seperate development server. Copied entire folder (as there is much customization) and everything works except when you update a template it doesn't show the updated version when you go to try it out. When you go back and look at the template in the editor it has your changes, but it just isn't showing up when you actually go through and view the site. Doesn't make any sense, I even went into my skin1 directory remotely and downloaded the .tpl to verify it did have the changes and it does.

Anyone know what to do about this, or what is causing this.

if you overwrite all your templates you'll never see the overwritten ones again unless you restore them from skin1_original. Try deleting your browser cache and checking again to see if it changed.

Try running

http://www.YOURSITE.com/xcartdirectory/cleanup.php

this will clean up your compiled templates folder which is most likely the problem. If this doesn't do it, manually go into your templates_c folder and delete all of the files found there.

okay i tried running cleanup, and i looked in the directory of templates_c and all i see are folders with names like %4 and what not and I can't delete any of them?

I'm really confused and need some help please...I just have a couple more changes to the templates for my site to be finished.

Make sure your permissions are set correctly on the folder.

Delete what you can

cleanup.php the rest

try again.

i get 550 errors and its weird because i can't delete them or change the permissions without getting this error.

Did you recently change servers?

My host moved me once and it screwed up a bunch of my permissions.

Perhaps check in with them.

Shan once suggested deleting the whole folder, but I'm not 100% that X-cart will automatically create a new one or if the store admin should. Never tried it but you could PM him.

i'm using an ensim server and just recent changed it from a name based site to a ip-based. everything went kind of weird after that, i guess i'll check my permissions again.
