Hi, I am not a webdesigner so I have a simple question. I need to have somebody design a banner for me to be put in the center column. What should be the width of the banner so it fills out the center column ? Also, what would be the effect if somebody who is browsing my site have a high resolution set?

Well that all depends on how wide you have your site set. Tough to answer that question without seeing a link or posting some code

I have a default xcart setup. I haven't changed the design. I am using 1024 x 768 resolution. Here is a link to the site:

Well you have a 'fluid' design, which means the center column width will vary depending on what resolution the customer is viewing the site with. In order to get an actual fixed dimension for the center column, you would need to set your site to a fixed width, say 950 pixels or so. You can change that via your stylesheet...the container class I believe.
