It worked - I still need to get the | between the items and it placed a bullet at the beginning of the line.

Ok, the bullet may be coming from one of the styles...do you have bullets in any of your other menus?

For the | try just adding it like this:


<span style="padding-right: 10px;">{$content} |</span>
