Default display subcategories on category page...

hmmm... I'm not sure how to explain what I am trying to do...

ok...

step 1: A customer enters the website and clicks on a main category link.

step 2: On the category page, you see at the top a list of all of your subcategories. The customer clicks on a subcategory.

step 3: when the subcategory page loads, the links for the sub categories are gone and you see only the products in that subcategory.

I am trying to change step 3. I would like the sub categories to remain on all of the subcategory product pages...

I need some help with this...

Not really possible as the sub-cats are tied to the root cat

-Here is what I did. It is not exactly like what you are needing, but it is similar. I'll try to explain it using your steps.

step 1: A customer enters the website and clicks on a main category link.

step 2: On the category page, you see at the top a list of all of your subcategories. The customer clicks on a subcategory.

My Step 2: On the category page, you see at the top a list of all your subcategories and then you scroll down and see a list of all your products within those subcategories. From there you can click on a subcategory. (or a product if you prefer)

step 3: when the subcategory page loads, the links for the sub categories are gone and you see only the products in that subcategory.

EXAMPLE: http://www.thecharmingbeadshop.com/home.php?cat=251

-The way I did it you get all of you get all of your subcategories to remain on the same page as the products in those subcategories. I know it's not exactly in the order you are looking for, but maybe it'll do until you can get what you want.

All that you have to do if you want to accomplish this is when you are adding a product also list the product in an Additional Category which would be the Main Cateogry that the product stems from.

Hope this helps!

bali and all,

this has been done. but i dont know how

I want to have for example 3 root cats (A B C) and have the left menu ONLY display
the subcats of A at a time or B, or C.

So far i got the above working by using a "tick" setting in general settings in the admin.

However, I want the subcats NOT NOT NOT disappear from the left menu
when i click on the subcat.

1.on the sample below you will see how JEWISH BOOKS remains the RooT cat header (blue background rectangle).

2.the subcats of JEWISH BOOKS when clicked, they just show the products in them. ALL the Subcats stay fixed on the left side.

Thats what i want. 1 and 2 above.

Thanks,

im on 4.0.18
