I just want to add my 2 cents: I am very grateful to everyone here, because everything I have gotten right, came from the forum. I do, however, agree with the post above: it takes a lot of searching. I walked on clouds for 3 days because I got my logo on the customer invoice! Thanks!

It is hard for both "sides": we newbies need some patient handholding, and you experienced people hear the same questions from frustrated tenderfeet 50K times a day.

**Other new people note: this is a good reason to name your posts clearly! Just putting "Help!" or "Need advice!!???!!!" means any helpful answers you might get go into the great mystical void.** I am not searching for "help me" I am searching for stuff like "header and image"

Also, I am still figuring out the etiquette for some of these requests. Like, right now, I need someone to tell me how (no, actually, I mean write for me the code examples) to add an image to my header on the right side, and tell me how to put those little "trust" logos and credit card logos in the side columns. It is ten minutes if you know code, I guess.

But most of you folks who know this stuff get paid for that work, and so I am very reluctant to just post requests like that on the forum. It seems a little nervy. So, I haven't posted those questions here. Until now. Anyone want to throw a nervy newbie a bone?

Thanks! O Genie of the Cart! Amazing!

I am almost done with the site! I'll post it to the forum, and try to pay it forward. And a cool beverage of your choice to you!

Yep unfortunatley that is just the way of the World these days. People take and don't wanna give back.

It's one massive leech-fest out here in cyberspace gloriously demonstrated a few years back by Hotline users asking for contributions to their paypal accounts before giving you access to the pirated software that sat on their computers. Morals anybody?

I'm of the mindset that feels if you have taken at some point you owe it to yourself to give back. I'm sure if you asked Padraic or any of the (few) other regular captains of code on here that they would tell you there is something very gratifying in helping other people.

I just wish more people would consider that instead of grabbing what they need and bolting out the door.

Massive respect going out to the X-Cart hardcore

P.S. As soon as I know my arse from my elbow with this thing called X-cart I'll be sharing for sure

Default still taking... Security logo

Ok, so I am supposed to put the Geotrust security logo code in secure_cert.tpl. I didn't see this in the file list, so I think I'm supposed to create that file. So, where should I place secure_cert.tpl? In skin1.css or further up the tree?

I will then proceed to my server admin to create this, or can I do it from xcart admin?

Thanks. I'm all for payback... anyone need to know how to get your logo on the customer invoice? (Sorry, it is the only skill I possess so far).

Dean

Default Heaven helps those...

I'm slow, but getting there... I found that in xcart admin, where you can browse the templates, you can create files and directories. Sorry for asking what I could find with more looking.

So if I just create secure_cert.tpl, then place that code in it, and then insert the other in customer_home.tpl, yes?

If I insert the secure logo language in other templates will it show on those pages, too? Specifically, I would like it on one or all of the checkout pages.

Last, where in the customer_home file should I paste this code? Will it matter (as long as I don't break existing lines) or does this affect the placement of the logo? Your kindness will not go unnoticed, and I won't ask much more
