webmaster mode aint working

hi x-cart people

when i go into my admin, click on webmaster mode start my webmaster mode then click on Open customer area in a new window then when i goto to edit somthing and save it the changes do not occur it just stays the same? even if i delete the whole code n save it, it makes no changes?

can somone please tell me whats going on?

Your template files need to have write permissions (at least 666).

ok i done a boo boo um i made every folder in the xcart directory 666 and now i cant get into my admin?

it comes up with - Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /admin/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request

Change the folders back to 755

could you tell me what folder i need to change to 666 is it skin1?

No, you need to change the TEMPLATES to 666....not the folders. The .tpl files.

k i change the template that i wanted to edit from 644 to 666 but when i edit that template still no changes?

Might want to open a ticket with X-Cart at this point, as I don't know what else it could be.
