Default Need Multiple Category/Product Listing Templates

I was hoping to have multiple category and product templates for various layouts in the store. There will be many so I really need completely new template files and the ability to load them to each category. I noted "MULTIPLE PRODUCT TEMPLATES PACKAGE FOR X-CART" on websitecm.com.

Does anyone have a recomendation or experience with this. Is this my only option.

Also interest in having nested categories display in primary navigation column when clicked plus in the header of the category - this is default. Is the only option out of the box or are mods available. I did not notice any way in the latest version.

Cheers.

Default 10-15 Custom layouts required

What I hoped to find was some way of including a 200 pixel height area at the top of each catagory promoting products and features. Part SEO, part usability and part branding. If all I can get is one category template then I have to jump this cart. I will hard code these areas.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's wrong with entering your info in the "Description" field for each category? It will display at the top of each category, html ok.

Default Header layout will vary

I guess my issue is that with 15+ layouts *if* statements would get out of hand. I would rather just choose 15 templated and change the header for each.

Default more

I should make it clear that I had hoped to modify the product category as well.

I'm not saying make an if statement for each one. I'm saying in admin go to "categories" then choose your category then click on "modify." There you can enter whatever you want in the "description field" and it will display at the top of that particular category.

Another option is to use the "extra field" option. create an extra field, then edit product.tpl to have that particular extra field display at the top using an if statement.

We have a mod available that allows you to have multiple product listings by allowing custom versions of skin1/customer/main/products.tpl.
