Default Want only product name in HTML Catalog file name.

When x-cart creates an html catalog it creats long file names.

I only want the product name in the file name.

http://www.auroragenerators.com/Kipor-KGE1000Ti-p-1.html

I would like it to be

http://www.auroragenerators.com/KGE1000Ti.html

Just want it to drop the manufactor and page number. Why is the rest needed anyway?

Thanks.

Its a file name. I don't need all the extra junk in the name. It would rank higher when searched for the item name and its also part of the file name rather then all the rest of the stuff.

Better search engine visibility.

If you add a second word it cuts down the accuracy by 50% There is more relevency without the page numbers and categories in the file name.

Can anyone tell me how to make it create a html page and name the file after the item name rather then all the other fields?

I looked into this but actually, you need a lot of the extra stuff to keep there from being duplicates.

If you really do want to poke around however have a look at admin/html_catalog.php - specifically the $name_styles array

I have a mod that will allow you to input whatever file name you want for each of your products, so you can customize them all for seo relevancy. PM me if you are interested.

FYI Jon - The link in your signature points to a "file not found" page...

Sure thing - which mod are you referring to though? I went through the site and couldn't find anything specific to html catalogs.

I remember somewhere else on the forum you mentioning an .htaccess mod or something similar. Couldn't find that either...

The mod for custom urls has not yet been made publically available and needs to be installed by us. You can see it working on our site for the products.

If you can refresh my memory on the purpose of the .htaccess changes I'd be happy to help you with it.

I believe the .htacess mod was an alternative to HTML catalog using mod_rewrite. I've been doing a lot research on the forums as I upgrade to the 4.x branch and I stumbled on that somewhere along the way...
