Deleted Privacy Statement from Languages Section - Can I Get It Back?
Can someone tell me how to restore my Privacy Statement? I was trying to edit the text and accidentally deleted the entire statement from the database.
Now there is a blank space in my "Help" box where the Privacy Statement used to reside. I have tried adding back the values, but it does not work. |

Go into your 'Languages' area, select 'text' and find the privacy statement variable. Type what you want into the box and click on the 'update' button.

I somehow completely deleted it. When I do a search for text with the term "privacy" it comes up blank!

I have a backup but it is 2 months old. Is there a way to restore just what I deleted or is it all or nothing?

Open your sql backup in a text editor. It will be scary looking. BUT - your content will be in there. Find the entry (search for key phrases) and you should be able to fish it out. |

If your privacy statement is the standard - why not just cut & paste from another site (going through the Languages Section of Admin)?

Yes - I mean a stock install. I'll try to word my posts more carefully in the future. Here is the text from the stock install:
We respect your privacy! Any and all the information collected on this site will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, rented, disclosed, or loaned! Any information you provide will be held with the utmost care and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to. Please email us with any questions you may have. Hopefully this helps. |

Go to a fresh copy of X-Cart....go to the SQL directory...find xcart_languages....do a seach in the file for the privacy statement and there you should find the default text that is used when X-Cart installs the language files.

Everything is back now... but I sure took the hard route. Dumped the entire sql database, text edited the item back in, and tried to restore. But it turns out my ISP has some limits on sql uploads, and the upload timed out when it was half completed, causing half of my admin section and some of my store to disappear. Ended up having to get x-cart to restore the database and paid 60 support points for it. Everything is fine now, and the statement is back. But what a hassle! Now I know how to go into the sql editor and I will NOT make this mistake again!
