Default 'Instock', 'Out of Stock', 'Backorder', 'Discont..' Buttons?

I'm looking to add this option to the Product Page (customer/main/product.tpl) and Products Listing (customer/main/products.tpl).

What I want to do is display an image (or text) that tells the customer if the product is:

1. "Instock" - if the product is in stock

or

2. "Out of Stock" - if there is no stock

or

3. "Back Order" - if more stock is coming

or

4. "Discontinued" - if the stock will not be sold again

I'm sure i've seen this option in other x-cart stores. Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks allot!

Version 4.0.1

If you can wait a few days I can show you what i have had one for one of my new sites (im not ready to release it yet though a I still have to do some work on it)

but it works very similair to http://www.boden.co.uk/col.asp?segname=Men&styid=ME006&segid=4&gpname=Jac kets%2FCoats&desname=Correspond...gpid=11& gen=

but instead of just showing stock status it uses the variations in 4.0.5 to show the acutal stock amounts that I have.

So it's got the key code, in stock, out of stock and low stock icons.
Fabric rollover swatch and add to basket byclicking on the corresponding size/colour combination on the grid.

Did you see the boden site, its basically a rip of what they have done but slightly changed to incorporate showing the true stock

One thing I have noticed though is that the the fabric swatch rollover is a little slow on IE but lightning fast on mozilla firefox

so if you looked at the boden site then you have basically seen what we have done, but when its ready i'll let you all know.

We've also used boomers flash mod and have 3d rotating models (done in flash) so that the customer can view the underwear from all angles.

externaly im hooking up a lightbox to a streaming webcam so that if a customer has a question about opacity etc. I can just push them to the camera and place the underwear on the lightbox

etc. etc. etc.

I couldnt tell you how much just for that as I hired one of x-cart dedicated developers for a whole bunch of fixes & mods so it was all incorporated into their hourly fee.

I have in the past had problems with the x-cart developers (upgrading to a live site instead of a test site etc for me to do further tests) but I have to admit the guy that as assigned to me did wonderfull work.

I've found that if hiring the x-cart team (or anyone for that matter) to get the best result make a very detailed brief to give to them including visuals and/or screengrabs as well from sites that have similair features that you want incorporated.

Hi,

The mod you made looks really good. Is it hard to make? I would really like to do something like that.

Please let me know if ytou are planning to post how you did it.

I didn't do it, I got the x-cart team to create it, it's actually changed a little since i first posted, in my mind there were too many icons and it overwhelmed the customer, so what I did was change the out of stock icons just into transparent so if we are out of stock then the icon just appears not to be there and then changed the ticks to an actual add to basket icon.

Seems to work a lot better that way.

The mod itself is not something that I have the skill to tackle, in fact i find it works out a lot cheaper to hire someone else to create mods rather than try to create them myself.
