Default Designated and area for a certain category
Personally I have sell items that are very diverse, I was wondering it was possible to have the top part of the body above the products designated for pictures and text for each category, and sub category.

Default Modifying category or subcategory display in main area?
Sure, this is a pretty easy modification to make. With the newer versions of X-Cart you will want to first familiarize yourself with /xcart/skin1/customer/home_main.tpl. In this template you will see the templates where $main eq "catalog". From this template it uses /xcart/main/subcategories.tpl. You can edit this template to look anyway you like.
