Default News / Subscription Form On Static Page - Is this Possible?

If anyone has attempted this before, and was successfull, your help would be appreciated.

Background Information:

I'm redoing my website, and I've created a modified version of my main shopping page - using it as my new home page. I generated this page using the catalog function, and then downloaed it into Dreanweaver.

The Goal:

I'd love to use the Newsletter subscription "Add your e-mail address here" on the static home page. That way, customers see it right away instead of waiting until they get to the shopping cart. The subscription function works perfectly fine within X-cart.

The Problem:

The newsletter subscription function doesn't work very well on the static page. It accepts the e-mail address, then redirects me to X-cart when I submit the e-mail address. But, X-cart produces an "invalid e-mail address" message regardless of the e-mail address. (When I use the same address in X-cart, there is no problem.)

The Question:

Is this possible? Has anyone else attempted to use the subscription code outside of X-cart?

Thanks

Default Temporary Solution

I believe that this is possible. But since I'm not a programmer, I can't implement this on my webpage right now. I've settled on using another non-X-cart formmail script to collect e-mail addresses. The address information won't be captured in X-cart's database, but it does the job.

If a simple formmail.php script can do the job, I'm sure a modified version of X-cart's script will capture addresses and add them to the database - and do so on a page other than X-cart's main area. I will research this later.
