Finding the purchase and checkout procedure on 4.4.4 really cumbersome.

There is no Buy It Now button, visitor has to take all these steps if purchasing a single item.

It's hard to tell if the item is in the cart or not. It's even hard to tell if there is anything in the cart!

On the top row near the header, the checkout link doesn't change whether there is something in the cart or not.

Can't figure out how to remove the credit card form out of the checkout. We do not accept cc on the site itself.

This is what we have on our 4.1.9 live site. Buy it now button on the product list pages. When you click that it takes you to cart.php, you can go back and add more items or just pay and leave. Simple, easy, fast. How can I get the same for 4.4.4? Do I need a mod? Did I miss settings?

Don't worry, you can set it up just like your old site in 4.4.4.

I like the new streamlined functionality though. Just using the Ajax features of 4.4.4 and the new one page checkout I have increased one of my client's sites conversions by 20% and average order size about 35%. I highly recommend the new version, it is a bit of a struggle to get converted, but well worth it.

A few new admin settings...

if you are testing the store, this will bite you:
/admin/payment_methods.php
Use this payment method for orders with zero total cost

make sure the only payment methods are the ones you accept

remember, paypal express is/can be a separate module now.

Minicart? Very clear to me. You can always edit the template and make it "yours"?

This means something is wrong with your install. Go look at the demo store to see how it's supposed to work.

Carpeperdiem, it's been a while, hope you are doing great. Have to try PayPal express as a separate module. Maybe that's what I need to do there.

Mike, thanks for the reply. I too like the streamline version, actually really love this version of x-cart. I have been waiting for this to upgrade for years now.

OMG I am so totally impressed! I checked the box to redirect to cart when product added and when you click on the continue shopping button it takes you to the category last page you were at!

Hi,

The checkout link I am referring to is on the horizontal navigation row, right under the header. The demo version doesn't change either. I find that confusing if you are browsing through dozens of different products and adding them to the cart. That link should at least change color. My cart behaves exactly as the demo does. It does add the items to the cart and that is seen on the left nav column, it works as it should. Maybe I am just being picky, but I think it should change somewhat when there are items in the cart.

Now to the PayPal as payment method or mod. Any preferences there?

Which method does 4.1.9 uses? I would like the same. There are so many now, it's hard to tell the difference.

The reason I DO NOT use the paypal express for my paypal-only store (4.4.4), is that this store sells eGoods -- and I require full registration and accepting terms & conditions. If you enable paypal express, you lose the element of control on the user registration and can not force accept terms.

I "simply" use paypal as payment method for this store, in https mode, and disable all other payment methods. Works for me. In the "special instructions", I added,

"Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, eCheck"

And that works for me.

Express bypasses x-cart checkout.
Payments Standard integrates with x-cart.

Yes, that is done right and it looks like the code for 4.4.4 is the same as for 4.1.9 so it is probably all set up already on PayPal's end. I am however, having a tough time with the credit card input form appearing on the checkout page. I had changed the credit card payment option to show "Credit Cards & PayPal'on 4.1.9 and had disabled the payment gateways since I no longer accept cards directly on the site. We use PayPal and Google and will offer Amazon Payments too on the new site.

Now, is this why I am having this problem with the cc form showing? PayPal is set up as Website Payments Standard, this is how we want it.

I also notice that Amazon appears again as a payment choice, don't know why or what difference it makes since there is this big logo button for it already.

I took a screen capture of the messy checkout but can't figure out how to add it to the post.
