Hello,

I have a question about grouping the products on the search result pages so I don't have to repeat the product image, name, description over and over. Product variant may not be a solution since product is treated uniquely.

I am trying to sell phone cards on my new X-Cart website. As you know the phone cards come in different version $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, and so on. The information about the cards such as image, name, and description are all exactly the same. The only difference is the more expensive card gives more minutes.

That being said, I was wondering how can I group the products on the search result pages, so when someone searches for the phone card XYZ123, the card only appears once but the different pricing will be available.

Actually product variants would be well-suited in your case. As example, you would create 3 parent products e.g. "Lucky Minutes PhoneCard", "Solaris PhoneCard" and "Fast World PhoneCard"

Then under each of those parent products you would create the various service calling levels as variants. This generates a unique sku for each variant and ultimately each variant is treated as a "product".

Thank you very much for the feedback @hooter. Per your recommendation I logged into the admin area and from the product page I clicked on "Product Options" link and created new option group. Please click here: http://afc-p.rashidi.us/afc-p/product.php?productid=17514.

However, I did not get unique SKU option for each option. Did I missed anything?

Look at the properties of your new "option group" and look for this pulldown:
Option group type:
and select "Product variant" then save/update.

Now on your product modify screen you will see a link for "Variants" - that is where you will assign each of the calling levels for each "Parent" PhoneCard. Each of those variants you create will get their own unique SKU.
