IE 8 error with version 4.4.1

Default IE 8 error with version 4.4.1
xcart version 4.4.1 in IE8 is giving me some strange results.

The Categories section is adding extra space and dropping the actual category names down about 200px.

I have attached images of how it looks in IE8 and Firefox (looks correct in Firefox.)

Any help is appreciated.
