Default Terms & Conditions - Making user "check" it in

How would I do this? I'm answering several questions from buyers that are clearly listed in our Terms & Conditions, and believe they're not reading it before ordering. I would like to make it so they have to check it so they might actually read it. Thanks.

At the bottom of the order form it says by placing an order they are agreeing to the terms and conditions.

If they didn't read them simply refer them back to it, if they didn't read before submitting it's their own fault, a check box doesn't make any difference as they'll do what we all do and just click it anyway.

Come on hands up who has ever read a microsoft terms and conditions agreement? How many have even read the x-cart install one?

Human nature is to ignore the small print until you do something that required you to read it.

groovico is absolutely right, Ive seen it over an over on my sites (not Xcart related), and users just dont know.

Like for example in some Terms and Conditions I have a RMA (Return for Merchandise Authorization) and they call you back saying "HOW DO I RETURN OR CHANGE THE MERCHANDISE" ohh, just want to ignore him, but customers are customers.

What I do, if they ask by email for example, something that is already posted on the site is give him the link to the post, thats all.
Example:

Just bookmark your Terms and Conditions and send them the link without saying anything. Saying something over and over to customers is so annoyting, most of all when it has to do with the same G*d damn things, thats why we use FAQs, T&C's and all, but users always onderestimate them.

No, I absolutely agree while at the same time I don't want to make customers mad. My opinion is that if they check it, there's more of a chance they'll read it first which would solve a lot of the emails. I think most people don't even read it and by requiring a check box, they have to acknowledge it without question.

may be you can just add up short main points where it says submit order or agreeing to terms and conditons and leave that link open for details.

Like groovico already mentioned, that checkbox is already in the form when they are submitting as members /users.

Another thing you could do, just to always remind customers about this issue is add the link at the bottom of the Welcome Email message and in all order messages and newsletters.

Anyone figured this out? I want to do this as well, the checkbox is a must as far as I am concerned.

I've read the reasons why not to put it in, but basically it cannot hurt and only encourage some people to read the terms at checkout.

If I could force them to read it I would because I don't like answering stupid questions later either. I also don't need to argue over the terms of Sale.

Gotta be a simple mod to disable a button until a checkbox is ticked.

I'm hoping someone out there has found a way to solve this old problem. My credit card processor's bank is actually REQUIRING me to have a checkbox at the final stage of checkout.

It has to say something like "I agree to the terms and conditions / return policy," and the checkbox must be a REQUIRED form element, so that without checking it the customer can't proceed.

Anyone??? please??
