Random related products...

I'm going to use random related products on my site
But i will be changing titles on it so it sais something like "user who bought this product also bought this"

BUT as it is now it generates random products from all over the site, i want it just to generate within its own category, people will never belive that they are not generated randomly otherwise.
So if they could be generated randomly but within their own category that would be cool ..

I bet you got that idea from Amazon, cause I was thinking the same. But I do have a suggestion for you (if you are open to suggestions that is), it is better to have them randomly generated from all over the site, even if a particular customer does think it is random, that way prospects or clients have extra options and are not enclosed in any certain category.

Also, have you thought about the possibility of having at any givin' time a category with only one product ? It will show the same product as randomly selected because it has nothing else to choose.

Nope got the idea myself actually

and yah i have thought of the 1 product thing, but i did a count and the smalles one was 7 in one category, so that is ok.
And when people browse a product, they are interested in it, if they get other products they are interested in on the same site i think the chance of them buying that too is way bigger...
The possibility could be to have just a few categories that would be set up this way

Thats what moderators are for (part of their job), not that we should abuse though.
