![]() I have a need to offer customers the ability to add products to different carts. Each 'cart' is really an ongoing 'project' that they are developing to a point of making a decision about which one of the products in the cart/project to actually purchase, but need each of these projects to be separate from each other.
So for example, a customer has three customers who need a product from me for their own projects. They do searches and add the best products from each search to the cart/project. Later they come back, or advise with other people and make a choice about which product best meets their needs and purchases one product from the cart/project by first deleting the other products and going to checkout. Any ideas anyone? I can imagine a drop down list where you add products to different carts/ projects....

![]() I don't know about this one. It seems to me that a customer can only have one shopping cart, otherwise it could get real confusing real quick.
Imagine a real world situation where you walk into a store, grab 3 or more shopping carts, and try to proceed down an aisle putting items into each cart. Keeping track of what item went into what cart would get progressively more difficult as you proceeded through the store. Then at checkout, you decide to keep one cart and abandon the others, leaving them full. Not a pretty picture for the store owner.

![]() depends on which market you are looking into. Sure, for supermarkets it doesnt make any sense, but some markets it is important. Maybe not a cart, but perhaps another way to store collections. For example, istockphoto.com enables you to collect images under different projects called lightrooms.
Thats the same as I am talking about. From the lightroom you click to purchase. You have a number of lightrooms that reflect different projects. Im just wondering if anyone has done anything similar to this already out there?
