Black page background colour

What are the implications of using a very dark background colour? e.g. Will invoices print if the text colour is white.

It depends if the customer has background printing turned on or not. It isn't on by default.

I imagine that on the whole dark backgrounds are to be avoided if possible. Would you agree?

Typically dark backgrounds are tough for people to read, and it is difficult to show product images clearly/effectively on a dark background.
