Q: How is the the products management page (located within the admin interface) built?

I've done something to screw this page up and I need to get it back to normal. I'd like to be able to just restore the original files to solve the problem but not sure which ones I need.

I'll attempt to describe the exact problem: Normally, on the products management page, you'll see a tabular list of products where you can delete/modify/etc any of the products in the list. But on my page, the tabular list of products looks similar, but not exactly, to the way it looks on the customer side when the customer either drills down through the categories or does a product search. In other words, the list of products shown on my product management page does not show check boxes, quantity or price boxes, etc.

I have tried to dissect how this page gets constructed but I'm still at a loss here. I did do some template editing earlier today on files that shouldn't have affected the product management page so I'm not sure what happen. I may have overwritten a file unwittingly.

Did you mess with any of the files in the main/ or admin/ directories? Most of the customer files exist in the customer/ directory, so if you inadvertently made edits to the product templates in the main/ directory, you need to restore those. Just look at the date the file was last edited via FTP and that should give you a hint.

Wake up McFly! Yep. Thats what I sure enough did. Overwrote the products.tpl in skin1/main.
