hi im trying to add some news to my site but ive noticed if you add to much txt it scrolls all down the side menu is there a way of limiting this?

Yes, you can use the Smarty truncate feature:

In today_news.tpl, use this:

{$news_message.body|truncate:50:"...":true}...more

Set the number to truncate however short you want it.
