I've got a shop that currently has the fashion mosaic skin, however I now have time to design the site properly and would like to know thoughts on the best way to redesign the site without taking the shop offline.

I've seen a few of the template sites use home.php?skin= which would appear to serve me fine, but it doesn't seem to work with my install - is it an additional module?

Basically, what would you do if you wanted to redesign your xcart shop without taking it offline?

just make a backup of the whole store in a new directory and edit that one.

youll still run off the same database but can now edit the template files

brilliant, many thanks... now to remember my unix...

edit:

realised that i'm more of a try it and see type, so instead of making a backup of the store, i decided to download it onto my laptop and try it from there - all i can say is "what a job!" - the dsefu mod caused no ends of problems...

anyway, look for a new template coming soon!
