![]() I'm using the Fashion Mozaic skin and wondering if this skin, by default, will display the home page welcome text message.
The languages/text 'txt_welcome' file already contains a long paragraph of proprietary X-Cart welcome text, however, this does not appear in the Fashion Mozaic skin (at least on my site.) Can anyone tell me if this is a default behaviour for this skin? I seem to remember with the old standard X-Cart skin (correct me if I'm wrong), a check box in general settings where one could choose to display or not display a home page text greeting. I do not seem have this option with my version. If this is not a default behaviour specific to Fashion Mozaic, then where does one opt to display the greeting? If Mozaic doesn't, by default, display a greeting, then how and where is this acheived and how would one determine page placement? ![]() Thanks in advance for any help.

![]() I don't think the mosaic skin uses the welcome message by default, no.

![]() Thank you Padraic. That's what I thought - I just needed to be sure.
As a final note though, isn't it a bit odd that X-Cart would produce a skin with no default (i.e. search engine friendly) home page text? It leaves the Mosaic owners having to be creative in ways to fit it into the layout. Just an observation.

![]() If you haven't noticed, there are quite a few things in X-Cart that aren't search engine friendly

![]() Thanks again - I'll persevere.
I don't mean to drag this out but you mention: "that is one of the major problems with the Fashion Mosaic skin.." If there are any other issues with Mosaic that I should be aware of, I would be interested to know. ![]()

![]() You need to generate the static SEO friendly version or otherwise it is invisible to search engines.
I'm running it here. www.thesilvernutmeg.com you will see it goes straight to the static site which is in the root of the site. Suppliers is also non existant in the skin. What I am finding as a well is that Yahoo likes it and has found the site well, google on the other hand, I'm still (sandboxed is it) stuck with many pages from the previous site it refuses to drop and it does not seem to want to index the new site either. try site:thesilvernutmeg.com in google and yahoo to see what I mean.

![]() Thank you, SM Harman, for the great follow-up; I am much obliged. I just had the DSEFU mod from SafetyNetWeb installed (great job by the way), so my site should be about as search-engine friendly as it can be, at least in terms of file structure.
Here's my question: I've been advised to add text content to my home page as without it, I'm invisible to the search engines. However, what about sites like these? ![]() http://www.polo.com/home/index.jsp http://www.tommy.com/ Where's all the SE-friendly home page text? I've seen many other such spartan (great looking) relatively text-free sites. Maybe they just have such deep pockets that they can afford other means of acheiving SE ranking. They clearly are not following the home page text content rule so maybe they're employing some trickery that I'm not aware of. Just curious. If anyone out there could shed some light on this one, please post - thanks. Please tell me, how did you get your Featured Products to work on your site? This function is dead at birth on my version of Mosaic. Did you get a custom mod or is this a standard behaviour in 4.0.16? Thanks !
