This is my first time working with X-Cart, and I have a design that I need to implement for a client. The design calls for a home page with a header, 3-column body, and the footer. The third column would contain some graphic link navigation to other areas of the site that would be static. The interior pages would also have the header, 3-column body, and a footer. On these pages, the third column would be upselling/cross-selling products, and the view cart info. I have made some good progress to getting where I want, but seem to have reached a stand still since last Friday. I have been searching these forums and just can't seem to find the info I need on which files I need to be editing.

Well first you need to go from a 100% width layout to a fixed with layout. You can change the overall width of the site by editing rectangle_top.tpl.

If you want something to only be displayed on the home page, you should put the content in customer/main/welcome.tpl, or use an {if} statement.

Next, I'd alter products_t.tpl to get the featured products to show up the way you want them, and either alter dialog.tpl (the template that controls the blue box around the content) or remove the include for it in featured.tpl.

Thanks for the input! The dialog.tpl really helps alot...I was just starting to look for where that box "lives".

To resolve my first issue (in case any one else is looking), I edited home.tpl and rectangle_bottom.tpl, adding some {if} statements on the right column and bottom to get content to display in the appropriate places.

Things are moving along nicely now! \
