Heres a list of the new features / updates that will be in X-Cart 3.5.0.

Release date unsure at the moment as its still in testing phase.

• The set of alternative templates for email notifications in the HTML format is added (skin1/mail/html). These templates are used automatically if 'HTML email' option is selected in the general settings.
  
• The posibility to hide disfunctional payment methods is added: in this mode system checks if all required software (like binary client programs required for some payment gateways) is installed and configured. If this check fails the system will not display this payment method in the list of available payment methods during the checkout.
  
• The possibility to update status for a multiple orders at once is added.
  
• The possibility to turn off tracking statistics gathering is added.
  
• Product options are included to the export/import fields list (i.e. product options can be exported and imported via CSV file coupled with other products data).
  
• The checking of system requirements is added to config.php (check_requirements.php).
  
• Short tags '<?' replaced with '<?php' in all scripts to avoid problems with 'short_open_tag' option turned off on some servers.
  
• The possibility to move administrator, provider, customer and partner (if X-Affiliate module is installed) area to other directory is added. For example, 'customer' directory can be renamed and/or scripts can be placed to one directory level up/down (please check the file xcart/top.inc.php).
  
• The possibility for administrator to select a type of order for products is added (General settings/Appearance options).
  
• Auto-detecting HTTPS-bouncers (need for payment modules) is implemented: at "General settings" page admin assign the prefered bouncer, if it not exists, X-Cart will use any available.
  
• Canada Post shipping module is added.
  
• The checkout mechanism is revised and redesigned for ease of its customization and correct VAT and discounts application.
  
• The possibility to get printable version of invoice is added after checkout is completed.
  
• The HTML-catalog generation procedure is improved to allow to generate it for products from the different categories groups separately.
  
• The upgrade patches applying mechanism is improved: the checking of patch application for the current installation of X-Cart is added.

New modules (add-ons):
- Advance Order Management;
- Gift Registry;
- Product Configurator ver. 2

When I make templates for the HTML mail now, is all of this work lost when I am going to upgrade ?

I wouldn't say lost but would probably say wasted. The structure of the backend of the mail function on the new version has been completely reworked and give two sets of templates.

yea 3.5 is going to be the bomb release, bring it on, i need to upgrade, hhahahahaa, tons of useful features, i love it

one thng i would say is that the options imprt is well complicated and is sure to bring more than a few posts to the forum

does it overwrite my existing E-mail templates, or can I just turn this option off when I import the new release...??

Mind you the new users will inevitably still post about problems, but 27 Stars mod seems simple enough. I'm not using it (yet).
