I'm working on making a mod for version 4.4.x but I've been running into an issue with being able to get and edit the cart session variables.

From what I've working on so far I've found and know from previous versions is that xcart uses session_register (note: I don't understand why they use that since it's been deprecated) for session variables and seems to put them into the MySQL table xcart_sessions. And you use a cookie set per visitor which holds the session id which is looked up to reference that visitor's session data in the MySQL table.

Now my problem is that, although I am able to query the MySQL table to get the session data and look at it and I'm able to update the data in MySQL but the problem is that updates I do to the session data in MySQL don't seem to have any effect on the cart session data even though it's been changed in the MySQL table. Am I missing something? I don't understand why this is not working.
