I tired this in 4.4.1 and it showed a bunch of code at the top of the page--- I may have done it wrong. Will try again later, this sounds great!

What is the interval at which products stay in this section (how many days) Also, would it be possible to paginate this section like a regular product category list?

In the "latest_products.php" the beginning of the file is missing. You always need to begin a php file with "<?php" (without the quotes).
