Photoshop and Transparent Gifs
Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to create some transparent gifs for my site using Adobe Photoshop. I genearally use the "save for web" feature and get good results. However, I need to make some transparent gifs and put them over a textured background. The problem I'm having is that I get a white halo around my transparent gif. Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent or minimize this effect? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance, Dave |

xcart might be putting a border on the image.. if you dont specify a border=0 in the tab within a tab, it will put a border on it, which could be this white halo you are getting.

Within the Save for Web interface, there is an option to select the matte that is used for the transparency. More than likey you have it as None or White.
What you should do is use the eyedropper to pick one of the perdominate colors within your texture you are using as a background (before you "save as"). Then in the save for Web interface, you can change the matte to "eyedropper" and it will use that color as the matte for the transparency. Basically this is telling it what color to dither the edges to when making the transparency... |
