In X-Cart 4.x we had "Extra Fields" that we could define, and we were able to have these fields (Height, Weight, and any custom fields) display on the category products pages (where all the products are displayed with thumbnails).

Is there a way to do this in X-Cart 5?

We would like to have a custom attribute field display under or above the price.

You can achieve the same via Product Attributes in X-Cart.
Attributes can be global or product specific.
Please have a look at Attributes tab on product details page in admin area.

I am attempting to create two different variants. For example, it is one product(reality two)but two pieces and i need to be able to mix and match size and color.

Top Size: Please Select, None, small, medium, large
Top Color: Please Select,red, green, blue

Bottom Size: Please Select, None, small, medium, large
Top Color: Please Select,red, green, blue

2. if "none" is selected hide color option for top or bottom.

3. customer must select top size and bottom size options
Customer should have the option to select a top/color or bottom/color or both at once.

I have little to no knowledge of programing but quick to understand.
I believe i would need another table in the sql and some coding done.

would someone be able to assist.
Much appreciated.

This is not what I'm talking about. I'm trying to pull a custom field onto the Category page that lists the products (under the price, etc.). For quick searches, customers need to know the dimensions (for instance) without visiting the product page.

I figured it out by adding product properties by creating a module. But it would be nice to know how to pull specific attributes (instead of the whole array).

@bob@n-flatables, I am afraid, right now you have to pull all product attributes and then sort them in your code. Alternatively, you can create a new property of a product model and then use its value wherever you want without pulling an array. Here is an article that can help:
