CleanURLs without .html

Hi all,

I'm probably missing something obvious?
In the old 4.2.3, the clean URLs could be set to be without the .html extension - like a category view.

So, I want:

www.example.com/page

NOT:

www.example.com/page.html

Is that possible!?

X-Cart 5.

I've installed a new dev site and am looking at all of the features and how much configuration is needed.

I'm currently running 4.2.3 and those options were there on that - but I can't see them on X-Cart 5.

You are not missing anything. As far as I know there is no option for this in X-Cart 5

What would be the reason for this? Is SEO improved with the .html extension rather than the folder view or something?

I don't think SEO is impacted one way or the other. Though I would think most experts would agree that if you need to choose one then .html is the way to go.

The reason it is missing is just like everything else in X-Cart 5. You can't compare a software that was developed and refined for 15 years (X-Cart 4) with one that was officially released last year.

XC5 has been in development for the last 5-6 years. It was officially released 2 if not 3 times

I don't think this has any impact on SEO. However it is sort of everyones understanding .html is final page, the last one in the path to the page
'/' is a page anywhere between the home page and last page

OK, thanks guys.

I guess I wasn't really comparing the whole 4.x branch with the 5, it was more a presumption that the system I used 5 years ago would have taught them a lot to build into 5.x - therefore functionality should be improved. Point taken
