Thanks for looking, this is the bone stock, un-modified beta version, all of the included images and tool bars look like the Logo, very distorted and washed out. I wish it was as simple as a path problem.....

I get the same results in 3 browsers on 3 seperate PC's. I have a live store of X 4.1.9 on the same server with no issues. I am trying to figure out if this is an issue with the change in the CSS with 4.2b or a settings problem on the host server.

Thank you in advance
It most be a host problem or corrupt image files. If I load just the image with the direct URL http://www.hbdistributing.com/skin1/images/xlogo.gif its distorted. The CSS never gets involved when its loaded directly. It looks likes most images are distorted but there are a few that are fine. Tends to make me believe its file corruption but you said you replaced the logo with a known good file so I guess it must be server configuration.

Thanks for taking the time to look. I don't think its corrupted files, the toolbar of the WYSIWYG displays the same way. The odd thing is I am running a live store on the same host with no image issues. I am loading the 4.2b on an IIS7 server to see if the problems go away. Good point about CSS and loading the images directly.....

Can someone tell me what the point of the "Product Image" is?

1.The image is scaled to the same size of what a thumbnail would be, but is not processed so you end up with whatever size(kb) you uploaded.
2.Its only gets displayed on the product page where as a thumb shows with the list of products and the product page.

I realize you can generate a thumb from it now, but thats such a round-about way of doing it. And the thumb is not shown on the product page even after generating it, so you still have the bloated "product image" there.

Why cant the thumb be processed directly when uploading it, skipping the "product image"?

It would be nice to upload ONE hi quality image and have it be used to generate a detailed image and a thumbnail.
The "product image" could be made useful by not using it on the customer side at all and generating a detailed image and a thumbnail from it.

That would save me sooo much time, eliminating the need to run each image through photoshop twice to get a thumb and a detailed.

Just a thought....

There are three image types in x-cart:
Thumbnail = small image used on category pages.
Product Image = Medium sized image used on actual product page.
Detailed Image = Used in the detail images section of the product page or in a pop up and now with 4.2 when rolling over the small versions of the detail image larger versions replace the product image.

I personally don't use the same image for all three so doing it on the fly wouldn't work for me but for many people loading one big image and having that scaled down by the server would be nice.

After lots of testing and saying what the F#@% it turned out the FTP client corrupted a whole bunch of files. Things are back to normal....
Thank you for the time and suggestions.

Although 4.2 is almost complete, it may happen that we will update some template files because of bugs found during beta testing. So, most likely you will have to slightly correct the files you modify in order to make them compatible with the final 4.2 release.

There are no limits but having an X-Cart and following the steps I listed in the first post in this thread.

It turned out, that there is another condition to download 4.2 beta

I've just been told by our IT team that the 4.2 beta license has to be in any state but "Under construction". The 4.2 Pro beta you can't download is "Under construction".

So will there be an upgrade pack to take 4.1 users to 4.2 and will I have to do a lot of diff work to reintroduce all my mods? or will it be easier to install 4.2 on a dev server, do all the work, get the look and feel of the site right and then simply overwrite the live 4.1 install once I am certain everything is working correctly.

I also agree on the UK Counties, this was changed during the 4.1.8 upgrade to 4.1.9 and it killed my store as I had spent lots of time sorting the counties to be as per the posted link, not Wikipedia.

I personally have not gone anywhwere near any upgrades since then as I cannot afford for my store to be messed with in that way, I suggest you hold some virtual workshops that we can look at and post views on for items like this and get the store owners views before you do things like drop payment gateways or amend what I would call user data such as counties etc, especially things which can be tied to other functions like shipping.

I also understood you were working on improved integration with Google Checkout but don't remember seeing that in the spec of changes, one key thing that annoys me is the status applied to cancelled google checkout orders, why use Failed? my email templates are very very customised and failed relates to things not nearly applicable to cancelled orders from Google.
