Default need testers for new xcart - lots of mods

I have now go to the stage where I would appreciate members going to my new site as I would like some feedback

htttp://www.amsprintsolutions.co.uk/xcart

there are a lot of mods:
1. 2 more add to cart type buttons - called download spec and download guide book - login and select
2. I have disassembled the the minicart.tpl to show the individual links and supressed some of them
3. the starting page uses pix to trigger the main categories - return to home link at top skips this opening page.
4. several new links all spawned into the page using the help.php?section= feature.
5. added Switch Card and AVS code checks to the credit card page UK USERS PLS NOTE
6. changed SKU to product no.
7. added vat number and company registration to the purchase order side
this is a Business to Business site so most orders will be placed using purchase orders.
8. detailed images displaid as a popup - THANKS FOR THE CODE BOOMER
9. thumbnails displaid in 2 columns - THANKS AGAIN TO BOOMER
10. coloured scroll bars - THANKS FOR THE CODE JEANNIE

the admin has many new features including:
1. fields to enable upload of the specs and guide books
2. clone product - this is coming out in the next release (3.3.0) but was developed for me in answer to my plea to a quick way to build a product on the back of another
2. several new fields to enable upload of banners and special offer stars etc.
3. extra fields to display model , product name and product no.
4. rearranged the interface so that it is more intuitive and user friendly.

I look forward to your feedback,

thanks in advance,

Chris

Products do look better displayed in the 2 column setup and it eliminates a lot of scrolling. May have to implement that myself!

Neat download spec function you added. Call me crazy but the .doc file links back to the associate company. Would a return link to your site be better?

Lanyards...IMHO it's a little confusing. Says must order at least 5 and then shows (1-99000). Also, if I choose 1 black lanyard (you know, some people don't read instructions ) the resulting page tells me I need to be logged in to view this section. Could a minimum order amount be set on this item? After adding these to the cart there is a text box with the quantity ordered. Will you be setting these so they can change the quantity from within the cart?

Like the customizations you did for VAT, the currrency convertor, and extra fields. It's nice the cart can be changed to suit individual needs.

Maybe link the "Shopping Cart" text to the view cart like the cart image is.

Overall very nicely done!

Default thanks for feedback Jeannie

Thanks for your feedback,
Darn it I forgot about the lanyards - they were my initial "product" before I added some real ones - my client can add the other 18,000!!

I agree with your comment re minimum order level this was put in to check the feature as it is an xcart feature -but I don't like the size or display position of the text so again will have to go a hunting to find the template that controls its display.

Don't you just love trying to figure out which template is which and then by the time you get to the darn thing you have forgotten the intermediate paths - well at least I have.

Not sure what you mean by:

could you expand please.

I am getting xcart people to build code for me to place the thumbnails outside the database - this will mean that the thumbnails can be separate images rather than pixel resampled from the larger image - this is may be of help to you too.

Once again thanks for reviewing the site for me.

Chris

Yup, template searching and figuring it all out has been part of the fun.

Sorry that wasn't clear. There's an image of a cart at the top that when clicked will show cart contents. I was just suggesting that the text next to that that says "Shopping Cart" could be linked as well.

Default Testing Mods....

Hey to all,

I am new to the Forums and to the software in general.

I would like to work with some of the mods, but do have a question about the image pop up. Why did you make the window one size on the pop up? With the some of the images that we will have in the store, ther will be a need for different sizes, so can you use the following to some degree.

The code below will dynamically identify the images dimensions and then create a window around it.

I used it to write some image gallery software a couple of months ago. However, I am not familiar with XCart to know if it will work here as well.

---------

$image_info = getimagesize ("http://www.abc.com/image.php?Id=$image_row[id_files]");

$image_infoh = $image_info[1] + 30;
$image_infow = $image_info[0] + 20;

print "<td valign=top align=center width=115><a
href=\"javascriptisplayImage('image.php?Id=$imag e_row[id_files]','$image_infoh','$image_infow')\">[img]image.php?Id=$image_row[id_files][/img]</a>
</td>";
$count++;

---------

image.php is this below:

---------

<?php php_track_vars?>
<?php

if(!isset($Id))
{
die("Need 'Id' parameter");
} else
{
$Id=addslashes($Id);
}

include("common.php");

//set up SQL connection
$link = mysql_connect ($server, $user, $password);
if (! $link)
{
die ("Couldn't connect to mySQL server");
}
if (!mysql_select_db ($db, $link) )
{
die ("Coldn't open $db: ".mysql_error() );
}

$query = "SELECT filetype, bin_data FROM tbl_Files WHERE id_files='$Id';";
$result = mysql_query($query);

$query_data = mysql_fetch_array($result);
$bin_data = $query_data[bin_data];
$filetype = $query_data[filetype];

Header("Content-type: $filetype");
echo $bin_data;

?>

----------

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks,

David Young

Hey Chris

Tried to visit site, but got the old 404.
Will try again soon.
I saw you have implemented UK debit card and validation at least for Switch. I wonder if you would'nt mind sharing the code for this and possibly any other UK Debits you may have (electron, Solo)

If you require payment for these ..pm me and we'll work out a deal

Cheers

Leed
