NEWBIE.. trying to figure things out on my own

I was trying to update my privacy statement, now business.tpl is completly blank. I try to restore the file but it's giving me an access denied, unable to save file message.

Also, my product descriptions are not showing, I'm wondering if it has to do with the dialog.tpl

To view what is happening please visit my store: www.d2consulting.net/store/customer/home.php & click on a product. It will be completly blank. Also if you click on the "privacy statement" link nothing will show. Terms & Conditions still works though...??

All text outputs are done on the language files, unless it has to do with products or a page you have created by yourself.

Steps:

1. Go to your Admin Panel
2. Click on Languages in Administration
3. Edit English Language
4. In the Edit Language Entries Select topic "TEXT" and apply filter "privacy" (for your case).
5. You will see three fields like this:
Variable Description Value
txt_privacy_statement Privacy statement message text OUTPUT*

* Output is what is displayed on screen when a user hits Privacy Statement (in this case). If this value is empty nothing will show, so modify this value and you will see the output.

NOTE: If you have accidently deleted the variable txt_privacy_statement then add it again (like that) in the Add New Entry field below the edit option.

REgarding your product descriptions:

I can see your descriptions are correct.

Everything related to Products are polled from the database (except for images that can be from database or file system at your choice).

The TPL files are used to output the design on screen, and unless you have accidently modified how they should output the information without knowing what variable was modified, they have nothing to do with this case.

If you did alter in any way a TPL file without knowing what you were doing, just overwrite the TPL file with the original one.

I worked on this last night and what I did was ran the install.php to reinstall skin1. I had to modify some of the other changes I made prior, but I was able to get my privacy statement dialog & product descriptions back.


I will continue to work on adding my own privacy statement.
