In the admin area... I need to be able to find product codes or models (in my system they are the same- the model is copied from the product code.)

Will this require changing the "search.php" or can smarty/x-cart handle this.


It would be ok the change the search Product # to actually search by productcode. Is this something simple enough for a non-braindead newbie?

Personally, I'd like to be able to use the productcode to replace the productid, since we require the ability to update product information on a daily basis. Products will be coming and going, so if we could use the product code from our supplier to update inventory numbers and other info, it would make things much easier.

It should be an option like: Use productcode as productid Y or N

Productcode goes in, productcode should come out....everyplace where the productid is currently going. Or at least give the option in admin general settings.

Found this post while looking for how to search in admin by productcode.

customers can search by sku/productcode so there is a way...just gotta figure it out.
